Hi I'm Dottie Pickett. I'm a licensed Marriage and Family therapist, and I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. I went to Auburn University (which by the way was a blatant sin against all my University of Alabama friends and family). Don't laugh, but I was a Home Economics Education major at Auburn. (I'm sure they don't even have that major anymore.) I'm also an empty nester (which sucks by the way), so I have lots of time to write Pickett's Pearls and do all the life-giving things that go with it.

My husband of 28 years is the Dean of Spiritual Development at Biola University  (which means that he is a whole lot more spiritual than I am.) I have two grown daughters: Carly, 25, who majored in studio art at Boston University (and is the most talented artist that ever walked the earth)! Then there's Abbey, my youngest, (who isn't that young, 22). Abbey graduated from film school at the University of Southern California (USC). (She will end up supporting us all.)

About the Blog Posts

Now about future blog posts: I’m going to be posting "Pickett’s Pearls" every 2-3 weeks on a Wednesday. Each post I will be writing about what my taste buds think is an awesome four-ingredient recipe! I have gotten many of these recipes from friends, and I have tested each one on my husband (Needless to say, he's behind the project!)

From time to time I will also be sharing a helpful or creative idea (usually for the home.) Making a simple, but elegant wreath for your door and learning special napkin folds, for example, are two ideas you'll see in future blog posts.

Fun Sayings

If that’s not enough cool stuff, I will be throwing out  a "Fun Saying" every now and then. There are so many random sayings that we can laugh about. For example: “You're the cat’s pajamas.” What on earth?

Send Me Your Ideas

I really want this blog to be a group effort. I want to hear about your four-ingredient recipes and your helpful/creative ideas. All you have to do is fill out the Contact page. I will then test the idea and if it "cuts the mustard" (ha- ha), I will then share your idea, your name and where you are from. (Unless, of course, you want to keep that under wraps.)
